Our private high school in Manhattan is an oasis in the heart of New York City where our mix of an eclectic mix of local and international students follow the traditional British academic pathway consisting of IGCSE and A-level qualifications.

These qualifications are recognized by top universities in the United States and around the world. The program is academically rigorous and highly personalized, preparing students exceptionally well for college. Successful completion of A-Levels not only meets the entrance requirements of universities in the United States, but can also qualify students for up to one year of college credit at some of America’s leading institutions.
How the Academic Pathway Works
Introducing IGCSEs
In the first two years of high school, students study a broad range of subjects through International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) courses.
All Upper students take IGCSE courses in:

- English Literature
- Mathematics
- Science (Choice of Biology, Chemistry and Physics individually, or Combined Science)
- Global Perspectives

This gives students a minimum of 6 IGCSEs (often viewed as US High School equivalency and sufficient for entry requirements to Associate Degrees and some colleges).
Students also have the opportunity to take an additional 3–4 subjects from the list below.

- Computer Science
This gives students 9–10 IGCSEs and would also secure the International Certificate of Education, which requires students to complete courses across six broad academic disciplines.
Introducing A Levels
In the last two years of high school, students move on to Advanced Level courses, known as A Levels.
The aim of A Levels is to enable students to take examinations at a higher level in a small number of subjects to equip them with the knowledge, skills and qualifications to succeed at university.
At this stage, students:
- Focus on a smaller number of subjects
- Align choices with strengths, interests, and future goals
- Study each subject in greater depth and at a more advanced level
The precise range of subjects offered at A Level will partly be determined by the individual choices of students. One of the strengths of A Levels is that they enable students to construct a curriculum around their particular academic passions or university needs.
Subjects include those offered at IGCSE as well as a number of others popular at this level, such as Business, Economics, Psychology and Classical Studies.
A Levels are recognized worldwide for university admissions and ‘good passes’ can earn up to one year’s credit at many of the leading colleges in the US.
This approach supports intellectual maturity and growing academic confidence.
