At The British International School of New York instilling confidence and nurturing happy students is our first priority; knowing that when a child is well settled emotionally, academic success will follow.

In addition to teaching our students how to respect and grow within a diverse and intimate community we have clearly defined structures to help support all age levels. With enviably small student-teacher ratios, our classrooms provide a safe environment for students to become fully engaged in learning and inquiry, growing both intellectually and emotionally. Each student has a Form Teacher who in an atmosphere of individual support and care enables his/her students to achieve their academic and personal potential. Students in Year 2 and below also have a full-time Teaching Assistant for additional support. Each Division of the school is led by an Assistant Headteacher, who assumes overall responsibility for the wellbeing of students within the phase. The Headmaster and each Assistant Head are always available available to discuss any areas of concern that may arise, and the welfare and happiness of our students is a whole school responsibility.

Our House system offers the opportunity for our students to meet and and socialise with students in other age groups and classes and encourages them to build community outside the classroom as they share experiences in a supportive and safe environment.

The School has a full-time nurse and a dedicated SEN and EAL Coordinator.
