A Unique Setting
The British International School of New York is situated in Manhattan on 23rd Street, in a discreet river front location with stunning East River views and an abundance of natural light which create an airy and inspiring setting for the children.
The School’s campus and modern facilities have been custom built to reflect the needs of its students and enable the children to enjoy learning and play in a secure and calm environment, but with the resources and vitality of the city just steps away.
In the Early Years children learn in a spacious, bright classroom and have direct access to one of the on-site playgrounds through the Nursery, facilitating the effective inclusion of outdoor learning in to their curriculum. By combining traditional elements such as reading rugs, areas for circle time and dynamic play with modern technology the school provides a truly effective learning arena.
Students higher up the school benefit from resources and spaces designed to reflect their specific learning requirements such as a dedicated Science Laboratory, Art and Design Studio and a Music Wing.
The onsite pool provides swimming for all our students, facilitating safety and confidence in the water from the age of 3. For students higher up the school, the full-size pool across the footbridge at Hunter College offers space for competitive swimming and swim instruction. The adjacent newly developed Asser Levy Recreation Park, offers regular access to a running track and basketball court. A variety of other team sports are taught at the East River Fields in the weekly games lessons and our teams proudly compete against other schools in the City. Athletics is a particular strength of BIS-NY, as acknowledged by our recent acceptance into the American International Private School Athletics League.
